Jazz Outreach Initiative's JOI Jazz Orchestra, the city's most exciting big band, continues bringing in top local talent to feature with the band with vocalist Marlene Ricci at its "JOIful Jazz Wednesdays" at Notoriety 7:30PM on January 17, 2024.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Marlene Ricci has been singing since age five and by sixteen was performing professionally at nightclubs as far as a hundred miles away, driven by her father. A few years later after moving to Las Vegas, she was discovered by Frank Sinatra who invited her to be his opening act, a role she performed for the next two and a half years.
Along with her more than 200 performances opening for Sinatra, Marlene has performed with Bob Hope, George Burns, Tim Allen, and has appeared on The Tonight Show, Mike Douglas, and Nashville Now along with hundreds of corporate dates. She appeared in her own CBS Special and landed two top 40 hit records in Europe. Her world travels have wowed audiences in Prague, Chile, The Philippines, Finland, and Germany.
Marlene has returned to Vegas where it all began for her and will be bringing her beauty and talent back to the stage with the JOI Jazz Orchestra. Says Ricci, "I'm so excited to be performing with this amazing Orchestra! It takes me back to the heyday of Sinatra!"
